Since 2013, the Inland Waterways Museum has been offering young people and young adults the opportunity to complete a voluntary year at the museum as part of a social year in culture.
A support association runs the museum complex, which is open daily, and regularly organises cultural events.
Volunteers gain extensive insight into the daily work of the museum: they learn about the archives, help organise events, carry out press and public relations work, and have the opportunity to play a key role in designing a special exhibition.
The aim of the support association is to give committed young people the opportunity to work creatively on all relevant topics as equal members of the museum team and to gain new perspectives.
